Purk Durm Loourp-Alpha Rock by Nik Engelhart
Purk Durm Loourp can be described as a mix of punk and rock; the fast pace and the groove of the piece is definitely fun extremely catchy. It includes acoustic guitar, electric guitar as a rhythmic partner to the drums, and two solo guitars. The solo guitars were EQ’ed based on their individual sound. The first solo guitar is brighter and the second guitar was made to be a bit more stronger in the lower frequencies. I used three different types of compressors, each with it’s unique sound to add to the overall timbre of the instrument; the two acoustic tracks were compressed by the Bomb Factory, the rhythm and first solo guitar by the Channel Strip and the lead guitar and second solo guitar with the D3 Compressor/Limiter. Effects were used to give the piece a bit more life; I used a chorus on the first solo guitar and a phraser on the second solo guitar. Reverb was also added to the acoustic and lead guitar tracks.
